This article is like a dream come true for many people, but as we know “every action has an equal and opposite reaction” we should also know the opposite reaction of what happens if money wasn’t invented.
Saving’s and Debts and bankruptcy is a bitter truth but this is how the society runs today. The one’s who have a lot saves em’. The one’s with a little fall in debt’s and the ones who are broken declare bankruptcy.
But back then this is not what society meant. We were species of hunter’s, tracking for food, keeping only what we could carry. But along the way, we started evolving and learned agriculture and started to grow our own food. We started to settle down had a permanent place for us. Life started to get easier but we humans always need more. So we started to exchange goods for goods. And then as life moved on we evolved exchanging goods for cash.
And in a few 100 years cash became the new king. And till now money does the talking. So just think of a scenario where we used the time machine and went back in time and stopped the exchange of goods with money i.e: stopped the invention of money. And we used the same machine to come back in time thinking that all problems would have been solved. One thing you didn’t know is, that is when all problem’s started.
In a world, without cash, the crimes will shoot above the sky. Every human has a need. Law and economy hold these drives in check, analysing boundaries of what we can afford. But if suddenly, money has lost its value and the person who is in charge of maintaining valuable goods has no motive to do so anymore.
Because no one wants to work for free. Without money, we lose some valuable services such as driver, maid, doc., and even police. And what about tech. power isn’t free and if no money, no investors, and if no investors, no new techs.
With no cops on the street’s people are forced to join into gangs, the streets no longer be a safer place to roam. You’d have a high chance of getting robbed in the middle of the night. The only way to stop this is to re-establish the barter system exchanging goods for goods. But quite harder to be implemented in the modern community since we are used to different goods and services, it would tough to establish to produce a proper exchange for goods.
But a world without currency would be an opportunity to restructure our society. No more digging the ground for methane. No more clearing the water sources for the construction of buildings. Without money, we might learn to live happily with fewer commodities. It is not the humans who learned to cooperate but it is the trade who did the talking. So a world without money might be chaos but it also teaches us a lot of things.
