Game Review: WWE 2K20

WWE games have been a goto wrestling game for most of the people for like ever then it was “Here Comes The Pain” and now it is the “2K series”. Let the truth be said that WWE 2K18 was the best game of the whole series and 2K19 was the worst of em’ all. The most obvious improvements between 2K18 and 2K20 were nothing more than improved graphics. Same lame/boring career mode storyline. Entrance’s and themes have been increased with more personality in 2K20. New characters have been introduced and each model’s look, plays and even look just like the superstar in WWE.

There were certain noticeable errors during the gameplay. And the moves were not much new and copied throughout different superstars which can make the game feel slow at times. Players also have access to community creation’s, which are creating new superstar’s, roaster and main events by other players around the world. There were a few free to download characters like Batman, Deadpool, Pikachu and a few more superheroes which means you can literally make Goldberg fight The Hulk. The max number of players in a ring can be eight so you can’t try the classic 10-man survivor series match. All the matches were really chaotic but gave out a different kind of gameplay than 2K18. The 8-man ladder match could also be called an 8-man botches match. There were literally a lot of errors.

Customization suites for superstars, arenas and titles made the game somewhat interesting. The biggest game mode of all is the MyPlayer career mode, which was quite realistic. WWE fans know that many talents were buried EC3 for an instance. MyCareer mode reflects that in an odd way. There are other side quests you’ll be doin’ like walking around the building for nothing and having chit chat with other superstars. MyCareer mode goes on forever, you’ll be thinking “whoa, man when is this gonna end”  and the best part of this game is that you can give out some great kickass promos. Promos like you get on the stage and give out speech or call out someone for a fight. Some of the promos might be cheesy but the mode serves its purpose.

The true gem of the game is the “Road To Glory” mode(Online Multiplayer) which allows players to take their created superstar online and brawl against other players to earn stars, loot crates and etc. There is also some general online gameplay that allows multiple-man tag team matches. The gameplay doesn’t lag like the previous versions.

This game hold’s a ton of outfits which can only be unlocked by playing MyCareer for like ever and counting. You have to play for hours and win a lot of matches to get like 15vp the in-game currency. Overall this game is very much similar to the actual WWE which streams on TV. There have been no drastic changes to the actual flow the series like said before. Still, the game lacks a simple gameplay tutorial, during my first match I was like what the hell is going here why he isn’t doing anything, then I reviewed the controls and started fresh. Wrestling fans will just love this game but general fans won’t even go near this title.
